Vision Screening PDF Print E-mail

The automated vision system Physical Health Screens use is a unique precision optical system.  The imaginative engineering and state of the art electronics makes it a front-runner in its field.

P.H.S. offers the following:

  • Far/Near Vision Test. (left/right/both eye: Acuity)
  • Night Vision Test  (driving at night).  Both eyes: Acuity
  • Intermediate Distance Test (DSE/VDU) both eyes: Acuity.
  • Phoria (eye co-ordination). Red- Lateral  Green Vertical.
  • Fusion. Far/Near.
  • Stereopsis (depth perception).
  • Colour (severe)
  • Colour (mild)
  • Horizontal Field Tests (3)

It is a fact:  Poor vision handicaps one out of three employees.

Surveys show that 30% to 40% of all workers have some visual problems.  Problems that can cause accidents, lower production, and even affect motivation and job performance.  Legislation now dictates regular vision testing to be a pre-requisite of on going employment for DSE (VDU) operators.

Vision conservation organisations say that of every 100 screened

  • 21 will be longsighted (hyperoptic)
  • 15 will have an eye imbalance problem (heterophoria)
  • 10 will be short sighted (myoptic)
  • 10 will have astigmatism.
  • 4 will have discrimination difficulties.
  • 2 will suffer amblyopia (lazy eye)

The wall chart method will positively identify only the shortsighted!

If people already wear spectacles they are worn for the testing.
